GZ Guildmaster's Necklace by HylianJean GZ Guildmaster's Necklace by HylianJean
The crystal turns in suspension, a giant in its cathedral, orbited by the ornamented coils, pinions, and dials of its colossal golden machinery.
The air rumbles with energy, discharges shocks of lightning to lesser crystals of the chamber perimeter.
Of power, it is both a symbol and a source, the Zero coordinate, its vital operation once overseen by guildspeople who wore the insignia of esteemed stations.

This was the fifth in my sculptural jewelry series inspired by the Great Zero machine of Uru: Ages Beyond Myst, a game which was very meaningful to me. They were all intended to be iconic, to symbolize the concept of the machine and not just recreate it. After completing the first emblem with a plain crystal, I purchased a set of four gorgeous, angel-aura quartz*crystal points. They were stunning, hypnotic little things, each individual, and it became a personal challenge to vary the theme to suit each of them.

I was fully running with the electromagnetic / piezoelectric motif when I designed this one, in which the crystal is carefully bracketed in successively finer brass wire and mounted to a hand-cut brass backing. I gave the necklace an arced-looking copper wire (salvaged from broken string lights) which runs through a series of eyelets. It's still my favorite of the set and I'm actually kind of sorry I sold it.

Can You please, tell me a bit more about this part "natural quartz crystal modified with a permanent iridescent lustre".
Is it something like paint, is it available somewhere? Or it was already done when You bought the crystal?
Asking 'cause the effect is stunning, at first glimpse I thought the crystal is back lighted or something, and if it's the "natural" effect, then I have no words to describe how I love the outcome.

Great composition, You must have put a lot of heart into making this one, as well as the others.

You can find out more about the process used to change these crystals in this Wikipedia article about Aqua Aura quartz, a different color than the Angel Aura that I used here. It's not something I have the equipment to do, myself. There is no backlighting used in this picture, just a small spotlight. And yes, these works are all my beloved babies, definitely far more care put into them than I could ever put a fitting price on when selling them. Thanks for commenting, I'm glad you like it!

Do you make these for sale? PLEASE???!!
HylianJean Featured By Owner Dec 8, 2010
O hi vormaen! :) This particular one has been sold and it would be very difficult to make another. I do have very small crystal pieces that I can reproduce and I have a couple of those ready right now, a small necklace and a medal-style lapel pin. They're more like [link] but with aqua aura quartz instead of Svarovski crystal. Though I can do Svarovski too. LMK if you're interested. :)
