A surprise gift came in the mail last year from a very thoughtful Myst friend here on DeviantArt (thank you again!! ) which included a few lovely little craft supplies. Among them were a few gold-colored, slightly weathered cabochons which reminded us of the shape of Riven's golden beetles.
So here is what I finally got around to making from this kind gift: a miniature version of Gehn's beetle inkwell, part of his writing paraphernalia seen in Riven: The Sequel to Myst. (See a screenshot here: [link] )
I inscribed and inked the lines of the beetle carapace in its back, but I didn't have a good way to drill a hole in it. So, it's not exactly an inkwell, more like Gehn just mounted a beetle on a stand, but I like it just the same. The base is about the size of a dime.
One of these is, of course, reserved for the friend who sent me the gift in the first place. The other is for the Make One Share One competition at Myst-Fanclub. (glass plate not included, sorry! )
Myst and Riven are property of Cyan Worlds and I thank them for their ongoing inspiration of artists like me.
This is EPIC!!
Great entry; wonderful Myst art
Thanks so muuuuuuch!
