Rutela Cosplay Almost Finished by HylianJean Rutela Cosplay Almost Finished by HylianJean
[Moved to scrapbook because I have photos of the finished costume now. Check 'em out!]

Photo by Molly McIsaac of [link] (thank you Molly!)
Cosplay and background manipulation by *HylianJean (sorry I am not very good at painting backgrounds! still haven't done a real proper photoshoot with either of my Zora costumes.)
Water stock by ~TheArtistDarklady

Character: Queen Rutela of the Zoras
From The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Character design copyright Nintendo

Most of her airbrushing is done now. In this picture she is still missing a few details and her pink overskirt, and her hair falls are now a little longer..
And those.. wretched.. darts! :iconwthplz:

But she has her headtail dots (they're shiny and iridescent! :meow:) and lots of color correction, and her head is WAY more comfortable to wear now.

Anyhoo, you can find more photos of her in my deviantart gallery and LOTS more (older and progress) photos in my cosplay.com gallery. As always, I thank you for your comments. (unless they're about how scary she is. I know.)

Edit: Here she is, 99% finished:

I wonder how you've done her "hair", I'm going to look in your gallery now. :D

Ah yes!! Maryssa was a huuuuge help in making my Ysera costume actually, she helped me with a lot of the patterning so I would match her Alexstrasza ~ one day we're hoping to finally get pics as dragon sisters together! And Sumikins too, haha ~ it really is funny how the cosplay community is all interconnected, isn't it? <3

I'm glad you enjoy my work, cuz I certainly enjoy yours! Will definitely be +watching so I can keep tabs on what else you come up with, amazing stuff! <3

Thanks so much! Still got some work to do on it before I'm ready to call it "done."
I've just been reading all about your Ysera and curling up with delight and envy at the awesome photos!
Also I was showing them to my friend Shoomlah and we noticed you're friends with her friend Maryssa, and with Sumikins, whom I just completely coincidentally started chatting with yesterday after admiring each others' work. Cosplay is a SMALL WORLD!

People have suggested this but sadly, liquids won't play nice with my fragile lenses; they can barely be touched. Airflow improvement is pretty much my only option.

In reference to your trouble with the eyes fogging::
Not sure if this would work or not, but for Scuba diving we use either toothpaste or you can find little bottles of lens fog prevention stuff at a dive or sports shop. You rub either on really good and then rinse off. ^-^

This is beautiful but ALSO kind of scary. O_O

Then again I was the kid that cried when I saw my first guy dressed up as Mickey Mouse at Disneyland as a child. LOL

I can't wait to see the finished thing~!!!!

Thank you! :D Unfortunately these are the most fragile little eyes. They're likely to be ruined by chemical interaction, and since my vision is already inhibited I can't afford smudges. Also yes, they're so close to my real eyes that my lashes touch them. It's a conundrum...

The airbrushing has definitely helped this look more finished. It looks great.

For the eyes fogging... I've heard if you wipe a mirror with shaving cream and then wipe it clean, it'll prevent the glass from being able to fog up. You could also try a car interior Rain-X product, but I'm not sure how safe that is near eyes.

Thank you! The headpiece doesn't need much balancing, it's fairly lightweight. But the headform I built it on was a little too big so it used to sit too low in the back and pressed hard on my eyebrows. Now it's fixed with additional straps and interior padding so it doesn't hit pressure points anymore and all I need is a little bit of extra strength in my neck. ;)

The zoras freak me out but the cosplay looks really good, recognised it soon as I saw the thumbnail on the front page :) Must've taken a while to balance the headpiece I gather!
