When Rutela is Completed.. by HylianJean When Rutela is Completed.. by HylianJean
I totally feel like I'm cheating by uploading this.

Took a break from Majoras Maskmaking today to play in Photoshop with one of the photos of my Queen Rutela cosplay that Eric Von Zipper took for me at Sakura-con 2011.

My other pictures of her keep getting more views, and though I am flattered and grateful for the attention, I'm also flailing mentally because every time I look at pictures of her I go like this:
:iconstaresplz:because of how not finished she is..

So I photoshopped her.

This is how I intend her to look when I've finally finished her and painted her colors properly. If I can make enough money from my masks I will buy an airbrush to use for this. We'll see if I can make it happen before Penny Arcade Expo. [Edit: Just about! She looked like this for PAX: ]

When she looks like this photoshop, I will finally have the happys. :icongrinstareplz:
Yes I am that much of a perfectionist.

[Edit: Here's how she looks to-date: ]

Thank you! There are quite a few updated images of this costume in my gallery. This image was a photoshop edit from before I finished it.

Wow, I've always wanted to cosplay as Queen Rutela ever since I first played Twilight Princess, I couldn't pull it off like you can though. Great job!

I suspect you won't stop until the finished project reflects the image you have in your wonderful imagination. It will be even more awesome once you complete the airbrushing. This was a great teaser until we get those final pics. Love it!

*sob* I love how clean and uncluttered your Rutela is ;A; my fave attempt at her by far! Man, can't wait to see this completely airbrushed, it'll look flawless! Also, love the creative way you approached to doing her eyes, they look so accurate,I feel I'm looking at the real Rutela ;~; <3 Your jewelry is so smooth and well sculpted, and the fins are absolutely gorgeous. Keep it up, you're fantastic at this!

:: happy wiggle :: Thank you!! I reaaaaaally hope I can get it right. I will need much practice with the airbrush first.
You should see her eyes in the light! The irises are irridescent and in the right light they seem to glow. (One of my cosplay.com progress photos shows this. [link])
 I'm so grateful to have my painstaking work appreciated so much!

Oh man! Looks so amazing!!! Loving dem eyes so much <3<3<3

And hard work and modesty pays off, sweet <3 You've done an amazing job! Modesty gives you the state of mind necessary to realize one's own mistakes and work upon them, thus doing an even greater job in the road toward improvement. I really admire that of you. I've seen some truly egocentric cosplayers with average work flaunt themselves as if they were the best thing to touch this planet. You're a breath of fresh air. Keep it up!

I'm not sure if it's modesty or just gnawing perfectionism. :XD: But I'm immensely flattered and honored by your comments, especially since I've admired your LoZ fanart for some time now! In fact, why aren't you on my DevWatch? :: add ::

Aww really? Thanks so much! I'm not sure if you do, but thanks anyway! Really appreciate it!

As for modesty and perfectionism... I would say they complement each other. Modesty allows you to admit your stuff needs work or is not the best and can be improved, perfectionism then takes charge to solve these problems to the best of your ability and following the refs. Without modesty, people think what they've done is the best of the best, and believe there's nothing wrong, so they do not improve. I've seen this a lot. I've seen people who claim to be "perfectionists" but lack modesty and well... it shows and their work is really bad. Or at least, I don't like it XD; and their ego/flaunting further kills it for me. I don't know, I really admire talented artists that are humble about their crafts. If you tell them "Your work is amazing!" a reply like "thanks, I really like how it turned out!" sounds much more better than a "It IS great, isnt it?" (and yes, I've seen people actually reply like this e_e ugh) it just sounds so different lol.

It's one thing to be proud of your work, another one to be completely full of yourself with an ego that has no founding to back it up XDDD

:D Your mask is paying for the cost of making itself and the mold, it'll be the next sales that start adding up to an airbrush. :aww:

She still looks absolutely amazing without being fully painted, though I understand your need to finish it. Are you airbrushing the costume or using acrylics to finish it eventually?

Well thank you :meow:
If I buy an airbrush, I'll airbrush her with fabric paint which is basically acrylics.
